Additional Information on Eligibility: | Eligibility for this FOA is limited to public and private institutions of higher learning currently working in the field humanitarian response. These entities are uniquely qualified to carry out the scope of work in the context of populations affected by humanitarian emergencies as they already have experience with professional education and a thorough understanding of humanitarian programming and responses. It is expected that activities under this FOA will leverage, compliment, or synergize with existing CDC-funded work around the world. In addition, these entities have an intimate knowledge of the non-governmental and international organizations related to program implementation and evaluation. They also understand scientific measurement of needs and outcomes for emergency-affected populations, which is critical to ensuring effective humanitarian response in the field. The grantee should have a Department of Global Health or the equivalent and a viable Global Health faculty base. In addition the organization must have the ability to host graduate students and be located in an area in or near Atlanta to ensure access to mentors within CDC/ERRB. Successful recipient must have an intimate knowledge of the non-governmental and international organizations related to program implementation and evaluation, scientific measurement of needs and outcomes for emergency-affected, conflicts and natural disasters, populations. CDC/CGH/DGHP/ERRB believes that the most experienced potential recipients are those which have established themselves as active participants in the international non-governmental community as providers of support to individuals, families, and communities affected by conflict and natural disasters. This essential connection will provide the successful grant recipient the resources and contacts to implement the program with the support of professional networks. |
