This grant aims to address the severe decline of yellow-faced bee (Hylaeus sp) populations in Oahu’s coastal strand habitat. The primary objective is to enhance and expand existing habitats for these rare bees by strategically introducing artificial nest substrates in high-priority, relatively intact coastal areas where Hylaeus populations are known to persist. This initiative provides crucial technical and financial assistance to partners, enabling them to identify, protect, and restore vital fish and wildlife habitats. Ultimately, this project contributes to the ongoing benefit of the American public by safeguarding biodiversity and promoting ecological health in critical coastal ecosystems.
