This grant offers funding to implement crucial recovery actions for the island rush-rose (Helianthemum greenei) on Catalina Island, California. The primary purpose is to reduce threats and foster an increase in the species’ abundance and distribution. Key activities include repairing and maintaining existing exclosures to protect populations from browsing, surveying suitable habitats for new populations, and comprehensively monitoring the status of current populations. Additionally, the project will establish long-term demographic monitoring to understand the species’ life history and conduct essential seed collection and storage. The total project cost is $46,475, allocated over a one-year period within a three-year grant cycle. The Catalina Island Conservancy is significantly contributing a $33,000 cost share, providing vehicles, equipment, salaries, and seed storage facilities.

The total project cost is $46,475 that will be allocated in a one-year increment over the three-year period of the grant. A cost share is not a requirement of this program. The Catalina Island Conservancy is providing a cost share/matching of $33,000, including the use of field vehicles, fuel and field equipment, salaries for supporting activities, and seed storage facilities.
