This funding will support projects that: (1) evaluate the impact of current legislation that requires state oversight of pain management clinics or sets out registration, licensure, or ownership requirements for such clinics, or (2) evaluate the impact of formulary management and benefit design strategies used by public or private insurers and pharmacy benefit managers (e.g., quantity limits, step therapies, preferred drug lists, prior authorization, tiered formularies, and drug utilization review programs) that are applicable to all beneficiaries, not just those identified as abusing drugs or engaged in fraudulent activity. |
