Description: | The Administration for Community Living (ACL), Administration on Disabilities (AOD), U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), announces the availability of Fiscal Year (FY) 2022 funds for a cooperative agreement authorized under Subtitle E of the Developmental Disabilities Assistance and Bill of Rights Act of 2000, Projects of National Significance (PNS) and Section 21 of the Rehabilitation Act. Funds will be awarded for one (1) five-year grant to create and maintain a national resource center on disability, equity, and intersectionality to build the capacity of our communities across the nation to be more inclusive and culturally competent towards individuals with disabilities. The center will increase knowledge and awareness of systemic ableism, racism, and other forms of discrimination experienced by individuals with disabilities, including those with marginalized identities. The center’s primary focus will be addressing systemic ableism, racism, and other forms of discrimination with a concentrated effort around health equity and other topics identified by the grantee. The center will focus on resources to increase equitable access for people with marginalized identities by: supporting forums for cross-cultural and cross-disability exchanges that will advance a culturally competent disability framework; translating research into action and disseminating information using multiple methods; developing tools, such as an organizational self-assessment tool, and supporting communities of practices for transforming systems and organizations; and building the next generation and future leaders of this work through engagement with youth with disabilities. The audience for the center will include, individuals with disabilities, their families, others in their support system, the developmental disabilities network, independent living programs, youth with disabilities, providers, and systems of services and supports. |
