This grant, the Methyl Bromide Transitions (MBT) program, is offered by the Integrated Research, Education, and Extension Competitive Grants Program. Its core purpose is to tackle critical agricultural issues, priorities, and problems that have arisen due to the loss of methyl bromide’s availability. Methyl bromide was previously a cornerstone pest and disease control tactic, crucial for effective management across agricultural, industrial, natural resource, and urban systems. This initiative aims to develop and implement innovative solutions through the integrated execution of research, education, and extension activities. It specifically addresses the immediate needs created by the discontinuation of this vital compound, ensuring that agricultural stakeholders have the necessary tools and knowledge for sustainable pest management moving forward.
