This grant opportunity, affiliated with the Kidney Precision Medicine Project (KPMP), seeks applications for Recruitment Sites (RS). The purpose of this grant is to establish new sites dedicated to enrolling adult and pediatric patients with Type 1 diabetes (T1D) who have, or are at high risk of, diabetic nephropathy. Selected RS will conduct crucial protocol-based research, including performing kidney biopsies. This initiative aims to leverage existing KPMP resources while fostering direct collaboration. The collaborative effort will focus on obtaining and evaluating biopsies to build a comprehensive Kidney Tissue Atlas. This data will facilitate the definition of disease subgroups and the identification of key cells, interstitial components, and pathways. Ultimately, this work is designed to uncover novel therapeutic targets for T1D nephropathy. Current KPMP RS are not eligible.

| Description: | This Notice of Funding Opportunity (NOFO) requests applications for Recruitment Sites (RS) to enroll adult and/or pediatric patients with Type 1 diabetes (T1D) with, or at high risk of, diabetic nephropathy into a longitudinal cohort study and perform protocol-based research kidney biopsies. These T1D RS will leverage the existing resources of the Kidney Precision Medicine Project (KPMP). T1D RS will collaborate directly with the KPMP to obtain and evaluate kidney biopsies from participants, create a Kidney Tissue Atlas, define disease subgroups, and identify critical cells, interstitial components, pathways, and targets for novel therapies. Current KPMP RS are not eligible to apply. |
