This grant is for the purpose of facilitating cooperation between the U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service’s Lower Snake River Compensation Plan Office (LSRCP) and the Idaho Department of Fish and Game (IDFG). The Idaho Department of Fish and Game will utilize this grant to operate and maintain specific fish hatcheries and satellite facilities within Idaho, including Clearwater, Magic Valley, McCall, and Sawtooth Fish Hatcheries. The primary objective is to rear sufficient numbers of Chinook salmon and steelhead smolts. This effort aims to compensate for fish losses incurred from lower Snake River projects by returning target numbers of adult summer Chinook (8,000), spring Chinook (31,432), and steelhead (25,260) to the Snake River basin. This funding supports essential infrastructure and personnel to achieve critical fisheries conservation goals.
