This Funding Opportunity Announcement (FOA) issued by the Fogarty International Institute (FIC), the National Cancer Institute (NCI), the National Institute on Aging (NIA), the National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences (NIEHS), the National Institute of Mental Health (NIMH), the Eunice Kennedy Shriver National Institute of Child Health and Human Development (NICHD), the National Institute on Drug Abuse (NIDA), the Office on Womens Health, the Office of the Director (ORWH), the Office of Dietary Supplements, the Office of the Director (ODS), and the National Institute of General Medical Sciences (NIGMS) encourages Research Project Grant (R01) applications from institutions/organizations that propose to conduct behavioral and social sciences research relevant to global health. This program is intended to promote productive development of foreign investigators from low- and middle-income countries (LMICs), trained in the U.S. or in their home countries through an eligible NIH funded research or research training grant/award. It is expected that this program will stimulate research on a wide variety of high priority health-related issues in those countries, and to advance NIH efforts to address important global health issues. Mechanism of Support. This FOA will utilize the NIH Research Project (R01) grant mechanism.
