This announcement is to provide public notice of the NPS’s intentions to award financial assistance for the following project activities without competition to Northwestern Michigan College. This agreement will result in gains in scientific knowledge about the structure of the lake bottom and the health of nearshore ecosystems, which will be shared both with public and scientific community through a range of technical reports, interpretative products, and student presentations. These products contribute to ongoing Great Lakes management initiatives and are expected to be of broad interest to the Great Lakes Management community. Thee student interns from the Northwestern Michigan College will be recruited in the first year of the agreement, providing the interns with invaluable real-world experience and creating new pathways for communication about NPS resources.
