Additional Information

Agency Name: NASA Headquarters
Description: The Curriculum Improvements Partnership Award for the Integration of Research assists two- and four-year minority institutions with strengthening their science, technology, engineering and mathematics academic fields and technical programs. Funding is used to increase the quantity and quality of STEM curricula, the number of underrepresented and underserved students who attain degrees in STEM, and the number of underrepresented and underserved students who choose careers in NASA-related fields. Some examples of CIPAIR activities include the development of an undergraduate minor in the field of computerized measurements and instrumentation, and the creation of a Bioscience Improvement Center. The CIPAIR project will integrate project management methodology to strategically enhance STEM curricula. Through innovative project management curricula and/or the infusion of project management methodology into existing STEM curricula, minority institutions will be able to groom STEM students for success in NASA and aerospace industry careers by providing both the theoretical knowledge and the “real world” experiences necessary for thorough understanding and increased productivity. Students will gain the confidence, knowledge and skills necessary to understand conceptual frameworks, apply skills to manage projects and implement solutions to maximize efficiency.
