The National Cancer Institute (NCI) is offering this Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) grant (R43/R44) to foster the development of commercial software tools, computational methods, and innovative technologies. This grant is specifically designed for small business concerns to enable advanced integrative cancer biology research. Integrative cancer biology aims to understand cancer as a complex biological system, integrating diverse data sources through computational and experimental approaches to generate predictive models of cancer processes. The grant supports Phase I, Phase II, and Fast-Track applications, with funding contingent upon the availability of funds and the submission of meritorious applications. This initiative will empower businesses to create vital tools for cutting-edge cancer research.

| Description: | Purpose. This Funding Opportunity Announcement (FOA), issued by the National Cancer Institute (NCI), invites Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) grant applications from small business concerns (SBCs) that propose the development of commercial software tools, computational/mathematical methods, and technologies that will enable integrative cancer biology research. Integrative cancer biology focuses on understanding cancer as a complex biological system by utilizing both computational and experimental biology to integrate heterogeneous data sources and ultimately to generate predictive computational models of cancer processes. Mechanism of Support. This FOA will utilize the SBIR (R43/R44) grant mechanisms for Phase I, Phase II, and Fast-Track applications. Other related FOAs that also use the SBIR mechanism are PA-09-187 and PA-09-189. Funds Available and Anticipated Number of Awards. Awards issued under this FOA are contingent upon the availability of funds and the submission of a sufficient number of meritorious applications. The total amount awarded and the number of awards will depend upon the quality, duration, and costs of the applications received. |
