Description:: This FOA is intended to support the development of novel technologies for metabolomics research in an effort to address current limitations in metabolomics research. The focus is on technological solutions for increasing the number, quantitative accuracy, specificity, and throughput of molecular identification; increasing the identification of specific classes of metabolites including lipids and non-polar molecules; increasing the ability to measure more unique chemical entities including isomers and enantiomers; and decreasing sample volume requirements, costs, and time of making accurate metabolomics measurements. Improvements are sought in sample preparation and handling, detector technologies and data analysis with a specific focus on metabolomics analyses.
