The National Institute of Nursing Research (NINR) is offering this grant to stimulate research focusing on the underlying epigenetic factors associated with the expression of symptoms and complications arising from chronic disorders. This grant is for the purpose of advancing scientific understanding to identify individuals at the highest risk for severe symptoms and complications secondary to chronic conditions. It also aims to improve symptom management and develop strategies to reduce, prevent, or even reverse the occurrence of these complications. Utilizing a Competitive Revision award mechanism, the NINR has committed $750,000 for 2010, anticipating funding 2-3 awards. The findings from this research are expected to significantly enhance patient care and outcomes related to chronic illnesses.
