The National Institutes of Health is offering this grant to support the optimization of promising genome editing-based therapeutic leads for Alzheimer’s Disease-Related Dementias (ADRD). This grant is for advancing therapeutic candidates towards IND-enabling studies by characterizing and optimizing leads that demonstrate strong proof-of-concept in relevant models. Successful projects will develop an optimized genome editing therapeutic with proven bioactivity, manufacturability, biodistribution, in vivo efficacy, and/or target engagement, alongside optimal dosing. This initiative aims to prepare these therapeutics for desired clinical applications. The NOFO is broadly applicable across the ADRD spectrum, including Frontotemporal dementia, Lewy body dementias, Vascular contributions to Cognitive Impairment and Dementia, and Multiple Etiology Dementias.
