Description: The purpose of this Funding Opportunity Announcement (FOA) is to provide supplements to the Neonatal Research Network (NRN) and the Maternal-Fetal Medicine Units (MFMU) Network (UG1) awardees to support outstanding clinical research scientists. This mechanism provides a specialized project for individuals with a health professional doctoral degree committed to a career in laboratory or clinical based research. Clinical Research Investigators must demonstrate the potential to develop into independent investigators. The award supports a two to three year project period that may integrate didactic studies with laboratory or clinically based patient related research. The proposed research must have intrinsic research importance as well as serving as a suitable vehicle for accelerating research.
