Description: | OVERVIEW: To improve the visitor experience by removing walk-in campsites that are in poor locations, rehabilitating the area and improving the remaining sites.
STATEMENT OF JOINT OBJECTIVES/PROJECT MANAGEMENT PLAN: Increase public enjoyment of the park, and provide an opportunity for youth to participate in park planning and restoration. RECIPIENT INVOLVEMENT: The crew will learn about visitor management, sound campground desing, as well as restoration efforts in this very diverse park. NATIONAL PARK SERVICE INVOLVEMENT: Determine which sites need to come out, provide explanations as to why those sites were chosen, provide training and tools to remove the site and provide training on how to restore the former campsites. NPS will provide supervision, and signs NPS did not solicit full and open competition for this award based the following criteria: SCA has a national agreement with then NPS. This section of SCA has a focus on young adults, these are high school aged participants. This is an opportunity for young people to get job experience in a land management agency and for the park to get important work accomplished that improves the visitor experience in the park. |
