Description: | NPS’s mission is to preserve unimpaired the natural and cultural resources and values of the National Park System for the enjoyment, education, and inspiration of this and future generations. GGNRA was established in the San Francisco Bay Area in 1972 in order to preserve for public use and enjoyment certain areas of Marin and San Francisco Counties, California, possessing outstanding natural, historic, scenic, and recreational values.¿ GGNRA administers extensive and diverse public lands, including Muir Woods National Monument and Fort Point National Historic Site, which are visited by more than 18 million people each year. Park visitors are offered recreational activities, interpretive and educational programs, services, and materials that enable them to learn about environmental and cultural issues as well as to increase their stewardship of the area.
The conservation and resource preservation, visitor interpretation and education programs, and volunteer engagement opportunities provided under this Cooperative Agreement will result in improved opportunities for visitor enjoyment. Additionally, through provision of the above, this agreement will foster visitor stewardship and understanding of NPS resources, thereby providing for continued preservation of resources for future generations of visitors. |
