Description: NOTICE OF INTENT TO AWARD: This funding announcement is not a request for applications or proposals. This announcement is to provide public notice of the National Park Service’s intent to award a non-competitive Cooperative Agreement in accordance with Department of Interior, 505 Departmental Manual 2.12C. The objective of this agreement is to partnership with Cane River National Heritage Area (CRNHA) to develop research documentation for two nominations for inclusion in the National Underground Railroad Network to Freedom (NPS-UGRR) program. Archival research and oral tradition indicates that numerous successful and unsuccessful attempts were made by African American freedom seekers to escape plantations of the Cane River region.
