OVERVIEW

STATEMENT OF JOINT OBJECTIVES/PROJECT MANAGEMENT PLAN

Our goal in collaborating with Golden Gate National Parks Conservancy (GGNPC) is continued research, interpretation and care for the park’s museum collections. Proper handling, storage, documentation and accountability are essential for the long-term preservation and protection of these significant cultural resources. Once these one-of-a-kind resources are cataloged, they will be accessible for research, exhibit, and educational programming.

The goal of this project is to catalog archaeological backlog of approximately 23,255 artifacts in year two (2) of three (3), from Alcatraz (Officers Row, Hospital Site), Fort Mason Historic District (Yerba Buena 1 and 2, Palmer House (FM-4), Building 235, 238, and 239), Fort Point, and Presidio Quartermaster Landfills. Many of the collections are from sites where we share programs and interpretive opportunities with the GGNPPC.
