The National Park Service, in collaboration with Pecos NHP, is offering this grant to partner with the Center for Advanced Spatial Technologies (CAST) at the University of Arkansas. This grant is for the purpose of meticulously documenting petroglyph panels at archaeological sites within Pecos NHP using and evaluating multiple 3D documentation methods. The primary objective is to assess the utility and determine the most appropriate techniques for recording these significant cultural resources. Furthermore, the project will facilitate crucial analyses for ongoing condition assessment, enabling cyclical monitoring to detect changes over time. The findings will also directly inform vital management planning and tribal consultation processes concerning the preservation and stewardship of petroglyph sites, ensuring their long-term protection.
