Description:

The involvement of youth and young adults in rehabbing Park gates stimulates the public purpose of providing employment opportunities. Personnel from ACE and NPS will collaborate to undertake a project entitled “Rehabilitate 46 Park Gates”.

Youth will replace and/or rehabilitate a total of 46 gates throughout Prince William Forest Park. NPS and ACE will collaborate in planning work activities, estimating supplies, teach construction techniques and vocational training. Much of the work will take place in five different districts throughout the park. The work performed under this agreement will conform to the Secretary of Interior Historic Preservation Standards.

Lastly, the project will educate youth on how to maintain historic properties, preservation and trade skills. Deferred maintenance will be addressed. NPS back logged maintenance will be reduced.
