Agency Name: | National Park Service |
Description: |
The project will educate youth on how to maintain historic properties, preservation and trade skills. The project will improve safety and security for the visitor throughout the park. The improved safety that is provided by the bridges will directly increase the visitor’s experience. The involvement of youth and young adults in rehabilitating trail bridges stimulates the public purpose of providing employment opportunities. Personnel from the youth corps group and NPS will collaborate to undertake two projects entitled “Repair Arch Bridge on South Valley Trail and Rehabilitate Historic Swinging Bridge”. Youth will repair, replace and rehabilitate two foot bridges within Prince William Forest Park. NPS and a youth corps group will collaborate in planning work activities, estimating supplies, teach construction techniques and vocational training. Much of the work will take place in two districts in the park. |
