This Natural Resource Damage Assessment and Restoration (NRDAR) grant, offered under the auspices of environmental restoration efforts, provides crucial financial assistance. This grant is specifically designed to restore, rehabilitate, and replace natural trust resources damaged by hazardous substance releases from the California Gulch Superfund site. The primary purpose is to implement in-stream habitat restoration on private lands within the Arkansas River and Lake Fork. Key restoration actions include stabilizing stream banks, creating diverse stream morphology, and enhancing riparian habitats. These efforts aim to reduce erosion and sedimentation, decrease water temperatures, and significantly improve in-stream habitat diversity. Recipients will oversee the comprehensive management and coordination of these vital restoration projects. While not mandatory, matching funds are encouraged to maximize impact.
