The following types of Higher Education Institutions are always encouraged to apply for CDC support as Nonprofit Public or Non-Profit Private Institutions of Higher Education:

Federally Funded Research and Development Centers (FFRDCs): FFRDCs are operated, managed, and/or administered by a university or consortium of universities, other not-for-profit or nonprofit organization, or an industrial firm, as an autonomous organization or as an identifiable separate operating unit of a parent organization. A FFRDC meets some special long-term research or development need which cannot be met as effectively by an agency’s existing in-house or contractor resources. Description: The purpose of this Notice of Funding Opportunity (NOFO) is to support research to identify and evaluate the effectiveness of quality improvement interventions specifically targeting adult immunization providers and to understand and develop approaches for immunization programs to support these efforts. This NOFO supports the Immunization Services Division and National Center for Immunization and Respiratory Diseases (NCIRD) priorities of improving adult immunization, particularly among the priority populations established by NCIRD which include: 1) racial and ethnic minority populations; 2) pregnant persons; 3) rural communities; and 4) adults with chronic medical conditions.
