The National Human Genome Research Institute (NHGRI) intends to launch an ancient DNA for Modern Genomics (aDMG) program. This grant is for establishing an ethical resource of ancient and historical human DNA data to advance studies on contemporary human traits and biology. The program aims to produce high-quality, whole-genome sequence data from approved aDNA sources, harmonizing it with existing data to create a centralized portal. NHGRI encourages investigators with expertise in ancient DNA, population genomics, DNA sequencing, computational genomics, human evolution, and ancient human populations to consider applying for this new Notice of Funding Opportunity (NOFO) when it is officially published. This initiative will foster collaborative investigations in these critical areas.
