Description: This FOA will fund external topical working groups to collaborate with Jackson Heart Study researchers to analyze the data collected to date. The Jackson Heart Study is an observational cohort study of 5,301 community-dwelling African Americans from Jackson, MS. At the time of these grant awards, the Study will have completed 3 clinical examinations between 2000-2012, with annual follow-up telephone interviews. NHLBI expects to fund 5 analytical working groups, each focused on a topic of concern for the health of African Americans, each having particular relevance to cardiovascular and related diseases, including but not limited to the following topics: hypertension, diabetes and obesity, physical activity and nutrition, heart failure, and chronic kidney disease. Funding under this FOA will not support the collection of additional data.
