The National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID) is offering this grant to establish or renew Centers for Medical Countermeasures against Radiation (CMCR). This grant is for supporting the development of new medical products aimed at assessing, diagnosing, mitigating, and treating the short- and long-term health consequences following radiation exposure from radiological/nuclear events. Applications are invited from single institutions or consortia with multi-disciplinary investigator teams, using the Cooperative Agreement (U19) mechanism. Prior funding through NIAID or NIH is not a prerequisite, encouraging applications from all qualified investigators.
