Description: Purpose: This funding opportunity announcement (FOA) issued by Eunice Kennedy Shriver National Institute of Child Health and Human Development (NICHD), National Institutes of Health, solicits applications for institutional research career development (K12) programs from applicant organizations that propose to continue to support a national program of mentored institutional career development programs for junior faculty who have recently completed postgraduate clinical training in Pediatrics, and are committed to launching an independent research career. The program provides supervised research training to assist junior faculty in their transition into productive, physician scientists in areas related to pediatrics and its subspecialties.
Mechanism of Support: This FOA will use the NIH Institutional Research Career Development K12 award mechanism to provide support to an institution for development of independent physician scientists.
Funds Available and Anticipated Number of Awards: The NICHD intends to commit $2,400,000 in total costs to support this program in FY 2011. It is anticipated that up to 6 awards may be made.
