Agency Name: National Institutes of Health
Description: Purpose. This Funding Opportunity Announcement (FOA), issued by the Eunice Kennedy Shriver National Institute of Child Health and Human Development (NICHD) solicits research grants (R01) applications from organizations that propose to study factors affecting cognitive function in Down syndrome, but with particular emphasis on adults with Down syndrome. This represents the first step in a multi-year strategic plan to augment research by various NIH institutes on this important public health issue.
Mechanism of Support. This FOA will utilize the R01 grant mechanism.
Funds Available and Anticipated Number of Awards. The NICHD has set aside $1 million (total costs) for this FOA. The participating Institutes anticipate making two to three awards.
