This NIDDK grant aims to establish the Type 1 Diabetes Mellitus Stakeholder Engagement Innovation Center (SEIC-T1D) to advance health equity in T1D research. The primary purpose is to accelerate equitable engagement of diverse stakeholders, especially communities experiencing diabetes-related health disparities, into the full spectrum of research activities. The SEIC-T1D will provide specialized resources, expert consultations, and education in community-engaged research methods. It will also foster a network of diverse, multidisciplinary investigators, community experts with lived experiences, and essential organizations. This initiative will empower researchers to fully embed communities and patients into their work, ultimately addressing disparities and advancing health equity in T1D early detection and treatment.
