This grant, under the Disability and Rehabilitation Research Projects (DRRP) Program, is for research projects aimed at significantly improving community living and participation outcomes for individuals with disabilities. Grantees must propose a systematic study, identifying clear hypotheses or research questions, to generate new scientific knowledge or understanding of the subject. Specifically, this is a field-initiated DRRP opportunity focusing on the community living and participation domain. The National Institute on Disability, Independent Living, and Rehabilitation Research (NIDILRR) plans to make two awards under this priority. These awards, potentially encompassing both research and development projects based on peer review, will each have a 60-month project period, structured into five 12-month budget periods.

Description: | Under this particular DRRP priority, applicants must propose a research project that is aimed at improving community living and participation outcomes among people with disabilities. In carrying out a research project under this program, a grantee must identify one or more hypotheses or research questions and, based on the hypotheses or research questions identified, perform an intensive, systematic study directed toward producing (1) new or full scientific knowledge, or (2) understanding of the subject or problem studied. Please note that this is the funding opportunity for field-initiated DRRP research projects in the community living and participation domain. We are inviting field-initiated DRRP development projects under a separate funding opportunity. NIDILRR plans to make two field-initiated DRRP awards in the community living and participation domain. These two awards may be (1) both research projects, (2) both development projects, or (3) a research project and a development project, depending on the ranking of applications provided by the peer review panel. These awards will have a 60 month project period, with five 12-month budget periods. |
