This Fogarty International Center grant aims to enhance the scientific capacity of institutions in low- and middle-income countries (LMICs) to conduct critical HIV research. It supports training programs focusing on a wide array of HIV research areas, encompassing prevention, treatment, care, and quality of life. This includes foundational, epidemiological, clinical, behavioral, social, community-based, implementation, operations, and health systems research. The program also encourages cross-disciplinary studies and investigations into HIV-associated comorbidities and coinfections that impact the epidemic. Applicants should propose training tailored to strengthen research capabilities in high-priority HIV scientific areas, aligning with NIH HIV/AIDS research priorities at specific LMIC institutions and their partners.
