The National Institutes of Health is offering a grant to establish a Genome Sequencing Center for the Gabriella Miller Kids First Pediatric Research Program. The center is tasked with generating high-quality whole genome sequence and variant data from pediatric specimens with cancer and birth defects. The data will be harmonized by the Kids First Data Resource Center, creating a portal for researchers to analyze and share genomic and phenotypic datasets. This grant aims to foster collaboration and advancements in pediatric research. Closing date for applications is Oct 31, 2018.

| Description: | The purpose of this Funding Opportunity Announcement (FOA) is to establish one or two centers that can rapidly generate high quality whole genome sequence and variant data from a large number of human specimens representing two types of pediatric conditions – childhood cancers and structural birth defects. All sequence data generated under this FOA will be re-processed and harmonized by the Gabriella Miller Kids First Pediatric Data Resource Center (Kids First DRC), which is also charged with building a public-facing, web-based portal that will allow researchers to search, access, aggregate, analyze, and share annotated genomic sequence, variant, and phenotypic datasets. Together these resources will promote comprehensive and cross-cutting research and collaboration within the pediatric research community. |
