The NIH is offering a grant to support laboratories in developing technical expertise in high resolution cryo-electron microscopy. This grant aims to help labs working with established cryoEM facilities to solve structures of new specimens. The funding will assist in training the parent laboratory in cryoEM basics and providing hands-on experience to achieve a structure. Applicants should have prior experience in structural biology or related fields to independently develop expertise in cryoEM. The closing date for this opportunity is June 7, 2016.

Description: | The purpose of this Funding Opportunity Announcement (FOA) is to assist qualified laboratories to develop technical expertise in high resolution cryo-electron microscopic (cryoEM) single particle analysis. The applicant and a collaborating established cryoEM laboratory will work together to solve structures of novel, tractable specimens by cryoEM. Applicant laboratories should have relevant technical expertise and previous experience in structural biology or related fields that will allow them to develop independent expertise in cryoEM. One or two years of support should train the parent laboratory in cryoEM basics to a moderate level of skill, provide hands-on experience with all aspects of cryoEM analysis, and result in a structure. |
