Description: The purpose of this Funding Opportunity Announcement (FOA) is to invite applications for Centers for Advanced Diagnostics and Experimental Therapeutics in Lung Diseases Stage II (CADET II). The goal of the CADET program is to accelerate the development of novel products for the treatment of lung diseases and sleep disordered breathing using strategies based on relevant pathobiologic processes. Whereas the prior funding opportunity, CADET I, provided the opportunity to explore and validate potential therapeutic targets, the current funding opportunity, CADET II, hereafter designated “CADET,” will support preclinical research on therapeutic products for which the target has been validated. It is anticipated that CADET projects may vary substantially in their objectives and scope of research.
