This NIH HEAL Initiative grant is dedicated to developing, testing, and implementing novel, multi-level, culturally appropriate interventions. It also supports adapting and evaluating the efficacy of existing interventions. The primary focus is on NIH-designated populations disproportionately experiencing negative health outcomes (HDPs). Desired results include significant reduction in pain and pain-related symptoms, coupled with improvements in patient satisfaction, overall health outcomes, function, and quality of life. Interventions targeting HDPs with chronic pain, alongside at least one comorbid condition such as Opioid Use Disorder (OUD), mental health disorders, or other chronic health conditions, are of the highest priority to advance health equity.
