This NIJ grant funds research into how various safety equipment modalities affect correctional officer injuries. The National Institute of Justice seeks proposals to investigate policies and practices among correctional agencies concerning staff safety equipment. Research should analyze what equipment staff use, when, how it’s deployed, and its direct impact on officer physical safety. For this solicitation, safety equipment encompasses gear used by officers to protect from assaults and reduce injuries.
