This NINDS grant is designed to support a new cohort of talented, independent investigators from diverse backgrounds conducting Alzheimer’s Disease and Alzheimer’s Disease-Related Dementias (AD/ADRD) research. This K99/R00 program is for the purpose of facilitating a timely transition of promising postdoctoral researchers from mentored positions to independent, tenure-track or equivalent faculty roles. The grant will provide independent NIH research support during this critical transition phase, enabling awardees to establish their own research programs within the AD/ADRD field. This specific opportunity does not allow applicants to lead independent clinical trials, feasibility studies, or ancillary studies. However, it permits participation in a clinical trial led by a mentor or co-mentor, ensuring flexibility while maintaining its non-trial focus.
