The National Library of Medicine (NLM) is offering the Independent Career Development Award for Biomedical Informatics (K22). This grant is for newly independent investigators to facilitate their transition from mentored to autonomous research careers. It provides protected time for recipients to develop and secure support for their initial research programs. The award targets biomedical informaticians pursuing research in clinical, public health, or translational informatics. Preference will be given to candidates who completed their informatics training at one of NLM’s university-based programs. Utilizing the NIH Career Transition Award (K22) mechanism, NLM anticipates making 3-5 new awards annually, subject to application merit and funding availability.
