The National Marine Fisheries Service (NMFS), with assistance from the New England Fishery Management Council, is offering this grant opportunity for the 2014-2015 Atlantic Herring Research Set-Aside (RSA) program. This grant is specifically for proposals addressing Atlantic Herring RSA research priorities. Funding is generated from the sale of research quota, which covers research costs and compensates fishing vessel owners for quota harvest, with no direct Federal funds provided. Projects must significantly enhance the understanding of Atlantic herring fishery resources or contribute vital information for the Council’s management decisions. Priority will be given to proposals that directly investigate research priorities identified by the Council, ensuring the most relevant and impactful studies are supported to improve fishery management.
