The NMFS-Sea Grant Fellowship Program offers doctoral fellowships for students interested in careers focused on the economics of marine resource conservation and management. This grant aims to support the development and application of quantitative economic methods for assessing living marine resources. Fellows will conduct thesis research on topics relevant to public interest and the National Marine Fisheries Service (NMFS), working under the guidance of NMFS mentors at designated Science Centers or Laboratories. The program directly contributes to NOAA’s mission of “Protect, Restore and Manage the Use of Coastal and Ocean Resources Through Ecosystem-Based Management,” fostering critical expertise for sustainable ocean governance. Approximately two new fellowships are awarded each year.
