Description:

Funding Opportunity Description: The NOAA Office of Oceanic and Atmospheric Research (OAR) invites applications for the establishment of a Southwest Cooperative Institute (CI) for Ecosystem-Based Management of Living Marine Resources, Ocean Observations, Climate and Weather Studies. The proposed CI will support regional and oceanic observing systems and will improve understanding of the effects of climate change on marine ecosystems in the California Current and adjacent watersheds, the eastern tropical Pacific, the central and western Pacific, including the US Pacific Islands, and the Southern Ocean.

In addition to the blended themes of ecosystem-based management, ocean observations, climate and weather studies, the CI will provide an opportunity to develop the next generation of scientists by exposing a culturally diverse pool of undergraduate, graduate and postdoc scientists to NOAA research activities.
