Additional Information

Agency Name:: National Park Service
Description:: The National Park Service (NPS) Midwest Regional Office in Omaha, Nebraska, requests assistance in completing a trail study. The work will be in an indoor office setting, working with complex information and legislative requirements. The position will be supervised by the Chief of Planning in the NPS Midwest Regional Office.

The NPS seeks an organizational partner who can provide intern(s) with advanced experience in policy, technical writing, and GIS application. Precision, maturity, and experience with complex projects is mandatory. The NPS will provide the educational experiences and project leadership for this study team. The organizational partner will not be required to train or supervise the team.

The long-term goals of the project are:
1) Respond to a Congressional direction to produce a trail study.
2) Allow broad participation in the process of determining if new areas should be added to the national park system.

The NPS Grant Officer and Project Managers will work with youth service-providers to identify the candidates best able to benefit from this experience, and assist the project. The candidates will work as a team directly with NPS staff to complete the study and prepare materials for public release.
