Agency Name: Fish and Wildlife Service
Description: NYS Office of Parks Recreation and Historic Preservation owns and manages multiple parks throughout New York State. Piping plovers have recently began to nest at Sandy Island Beach State Park along Lake Ontario after a 30-year hiatus. Parks plans to hire a coordinator to oversee management and monitoring of plovers, coordinate volunteer efforts, assist with public outreach efforts, and assist with any habitat restoration projects.
This is a notice of intent for one single source grant award without competition under justification 505DM 2.14.B.4 in the total approximate amount of $29,000 To NYSOPRHP, in to monitor and manage piping plovers on the shore of Lake Ontario (NY).
Competition for these awards is not practical as these recipients are uniquely qualified to perform the activities of the project based on a variety of factors. The selected recipients have been chosen for meeting the following merit requirements: possession of qualifications sufficient to conduct the proposed activities or ability to obtain them; experience conducting this type of work; adequate resources to carry out the proposed activities or ability to procure them; understanding of project goals to implement the work in a manner that achieves service goals; and a track record of adequately completing projects and providing reports in a timely manner.
