This OIA CRNR Program grant is for protecting and restoring natural resources, especially coral reef ecosystems, in U.S. insular areas. Its purpose is to secure long-term economic and social benefits for island populations. The grant funds efforts like risk management, prevention, rapid response, and eradication of invasive species, alongside native species restoration. A key focus is strengthening healthy coral reefs, which protect human communities from storm surges. This initiative fosters robust environments vital for the sustained well-being of island inhabitants.
