| Description: | The FY 2017 Juvenile Justice Systems Reform Promising Practices will assist the Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention ( OJJDP) in overall program coordination and assessment of the Smart on Juvenile Justice by collecting and analyzing performance measurement data, models and tools developed across initiatives, coordinating meetings so grantees and TTA providers can share information, assess program models to improve quality, and creating resource guides and other tools that highlight the initiatives. Programs include: 1) Juvenile Reinvestment Initiative Reform Planning and Implementation (JRI funded), 2) Second Chance Act Statewide Reform Implementation (SCA funded), 3) Enhancing Youth Access to Justice (Indigent Defense funded), 4) Community Supervision Planning and Implementation (SCA funded); and 5) Out of Home Placement (Title II unallocated funded). The provider will be responsible with assessing and evaluating the programs. The provider will develop a website that will be housed on the OJJDP website that will highlight tools and resources (i.e. maps, program reports, best practices, analysis of program data collected from the states and analysis of program measures across the programs) that will analyze out-comes of the Smart on JJ initiatives. In addition, the provider will facilitate peer-to-peer consulting and networking sessions. Goals, objectives and deliverable: The goals of this project are to ensure the field has access to technical services, training and programming support in response to the needs and challenges of juvenile justice reform. The objectives are to: âÃÂâ Prepare site assessment reports, to include information concerning (1) the number and identity of sites that have received Smart on Juvenile Justice assistance; (2) the sitesâÃÂàprogress in conducting analyses, developing policies/strategies/programs, and implementing criminal justice reinvestment strategies; and (3) the reporting of relevant data from sites implementing justice reinvestment policies/strategies/ programs, including relevant juvenile justice measures, reductions in population or growth rates, the savings accrued and costs averted, and the portion of costs saved or averted that has been or will be invested in high-performing strategies. |
