This grant, offered by the Older Adults Home Modification Program (OAHMP), supports experienced nonprofit organizations, state and local governments, and public housing authorities. Its purpose is to fund comprehensive programs that provide safety and functional home modifications and renovations for low-income seniors. The core goal is to enable elderly persons to ‘age in place’ by remaining safely and independently in their homes, reducing the need for institutional care. This is achieved through low-cost, high-impact modifications designed to significantly lower older adults’ risk of falling, improve overall home safety, enhance accessibility, and boost their functional abilities within their living environment. The program aims to ensure seniors can maintain their independence and quality of life at home.
