The Office of Refugee Resettlement (ORR) Division of Unaccompanied Children’s Services (DUCS) is offering this grant to fund temporary shelter care and essential welfare services for Unaccompanied Alien Children (UAC) in their custody. This grant aims to ensure UAC receive appropriate support from the moment of placement until their release, removal from the U.S., or their 18th birthday. Services must be provided in state-licensed residential shelters or foster care programs, prioritized to be the least restrictive setting, suitable for the child’s age and specific needs. While the average stay is around 65 days, this funding supports diverse residential care options including basic shelters, group homes, various foster care types, and secure or specialized facilities to meet varying requirements of UAC.
