Description: The Office of the Surgeon General (OSG)/Office of Science and Communications (OSC) announce the availability of approximately $1.00 of Fiscal Year (FY) 2011 funds to support the publication of Public Health Reports (PHR). The primary source of funding for this cooperative agreement comes from subscription fees from individual and institutional subscribers.
This cooperative agreement is intended to establish a mechanism for the cooperative agreement recipient to serve as the sole publisher of the peer-reviewed journal PHR, the oldest continuously published public health journal in the world. PHR brings important research and discussion of key issues to the public health community. Six regular issues are published per year, and each issue examines subject matter necessary to understand the issues of public health and disease prevention in the U.S. and globally. In addition to the six regular issues, one to six supplemental issues are published annually.

Eligible organizations may include State, local, and Indian tribal governments; institutions of higher education; other non-profit organizations (including faith-based, community-based, and tribal organizations); and hospitals.
The applicant organization must demonstrate:
� Significant expertise and experience in the publication, printing, distribution, and marketing of a peer-reviewed scientific journal.
� Familiarity with general public health principles.
� Significant experience with successfully managing complex websites.
� Ability to work with academic institutions; federal, state, and local health officials; and public health researchers, policy makers, and practitioners.
� Thorough knowledge of sound program management principles, including fiscal management.
� Familiarity with information/education/communication concepts.
� An ability to hire and support an appropriate professional staff to accomplish the requirements of this cooperative agreement.
